Preparing for an Estimate
Absolutely! We don't charge anything for our estimates.
Ideally, one of our specialized fence consultants would love to meet with you on-site. Our specialized fence consultants can meet with you on-site to provide samples, images, and valuable advice. They also check the proposed work area for easements, utilities, and landscaping issues that may change the project’s layout. If you can provide specific requirements like a legal boundary survey, a previous quote, or a precise sketch of your desired area, we can offer “off-site” or “online” estimates.
We strongly suggest you procure a copy of your HOA guidelines and look up your city’s fencing restrictions. Most of this information can easily be found online.
Yes, we'd be happy to! Our normal hours are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you require an early morning or late evening appointment, just let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate your request based on availability.
You can help us give you an accurate estimate by having your legal boundary survey and HOA fencing guidelines ready. If not, we can still conduct the meeting and adjust the estimate later.
HOAs, Surveys, & Permits: What You Need to Know
Amerifence can set up your fence according to your design without a formal boundary survey, but you’ll be responsible for placing and aligning the fence as outlined in the contract. We recommend familiarizing yourself with your property’s legal descriptions to avoid disputes over boundaries and expensive legal issues or fence reinstallation.
Unfortunately, these documents lack precise property boundary descriptions and are usually used for title insurance. Survey reports include the disclaimer that states, “The information provided should not be used for the construction of new improvements or fences.”
We advise scheduling an accurate boundary survey. Without one, the homeowner or business owner will be held accountable for the fence's placement and installation (as per the contract) and any potential disputes that might arise post-installation.
You can opt for any of the free-of-charge options below:
- Search through the closing paperwork for your property purchase. The survey should be enclosed within the packet.
- Visit your county courthouse or local city/town hall to obtain a recorded copy of any conducted survey on your property.
You can look for land survey companies online or ask friends if they have a surveyor they trust. Alternatively, Amerifence can recommend a trustworthy company upon request.
The most reliable and suggested type of survey for your property is a permanent “pinned” boundary survey.
While most cities/towns don't mandate a permit, it's always a good idea to verify with your local authorities to see if one is needed and to be up to date with any modifications to their fencing regulations and restrictions.
Typically, the cost of fence permits ranges between $35 to $100. We advise checking with your local city/town hall as prices may vary.
- A copy of your property boundary survey (a plot plan or a survey location report is acceptable).
- A “highlighted” layout or “site map” drawn on the survey where you plan to install the fence.
- A copy of the fence contract (optional).
- A picture of the fence.
- The HOA approval process can take 14-30 days.
- Permits are typically approved instantly, but sometimes it can take up to 7 days.
